CC 304 PERSEUS EXERCISE A WALK THROUGH THE AGORA

Please take a walk through the Athenian Agora (Architecture-Sites-All-Athens-Agora- lg. composite plan is the best way to get there). On your way, consider the following (5 pts. each):

1 Find a round building in the Agora. What was it used for? Again, please note whatever Encyclopedia, Keyword Search, or other aids you may have used here.

2 Find a building which General Miltiades might have visited. Please note whatever Encyclopedia, Keyword Search, or other aids you may have used here.

3 Find a building or space which has both a sacred and a secular function. Describe its use. Please note whatever Encyclopedia, Keyword Search, or other aids you may have used here.

4 Find the passage in which Thucydides first describes the district Lacedaemon. What was the major city of this district? How would its agora have differed from the one you're walking through? Please note whatever Encyclopedia, Keyword Search, or other aids you may have used here.

5 Choose a building you might have had some business in some sunny morning in ancient Athens. Describe it. Why did you choose it?
