  1. (in English) Seated goddess, probably Demeter, on a high-backed throne, her hands on her knees. She wears a chiton and the himation drawn over her head. The clay is orange-brown and a considerable amount of the red pigment still remains. / Ht.8.9 / Terracotta / One corner of throne chipped. Slight surface encrustation. [Text] (1.76)

  2. Villa-Giulia Painter; Villa-Giulia Painter; (in English) Side A: Dionysus pursuing maenad. Dionysus is wreathed and bearded. He is naked apart from a cloak over the left arm. The female is dressed in chiton and cloak and moves towards right but looks back over her shoulder at the man. Side B: A man (trainer) r., dressed in cloak, holds a stick in his right hand. A naked athlete moves towards r., but looks back at the trainer. The athlete holds a jumping weight in his right hand. Strip of meander for base-line on both sides. Strip of double palmettes to frame picture above. Wide strap handles ribbed down the centre. Double palmettes painted on the lower part of the handle, extending onto the pot. The inside of the mouth and neck are painted to a depth of ca. 10cm. Outside of base is reserved. / Ht.33 / Red-figure ware / The surface has deteriorated, especially in the lower part of the vessel where brush marks are clearly visible.
