Decoration:

Footrace. Two nude youths are racing while two men watch. In the center of the scene, the two nude youths run toward the right. They have fillets around their hair. On either side stands a cloaked spectator looking toward them. Their chitons are black and their himations red, they wear little red caps, and they are clean shaven.

Collection History:

The piece was excavated by A.L. Frothingham under the auspices of the American Exploration Society in 1896/1897. Funding for the museum's contribution to the excavations was provided by Mrs. Phoebe A. Hearst. From Tomb 65M.

Condition:

The surface of the vase is somewhat worn and pitted.
