Decoration:

Side A: A warrior is leaving home. His equipment consists of a sword, a spear, and a shield decorated with a large eye. He is wearing a short chiton and loin cloth, and he is raising a phiale to toast his wife standing in front of him. She is dressed in a peplos, a taenia decorated with two blossoms, and earrings. Her head is bowed and she lifts a part of her peplos in a gesture of grief. The warrior's old father is looking on from the left and his mother from the right, her hand raised in farewell. Next to the crest of the warrior's helmet is the white inscription KALOS ("[he is] beautiful"), below it KALE ("[she is] beautiful"). In front of the old man's head is again KALOS, above the mother's head KALE. Buschor, Griechische Vasen, 209 and Das Kriegertum der Parthenonzeit, 47 interprets the scene as the last encounter of Hektor and Andromache in the presence of Priam and Hekabe.

Side B: Three youths dressed in mantles are standing turned to each other, one of them is resting on a long stick.

The areas above and below the handles are decorated with large palmette scrolls painted in red.

Inscriptions:

On Side A next to the warrior's helmet is inscribed in white KALOS, below it KALE. In front of the old man's head is again written KALOS, above the mother's head KALE.
