Decoration:

Tondo: a bearded man, leaning on a staff, stands before a youth in a himation. The youth carries a tortoise-shell lyre. Behind the man is a stool with cushion. The man may be a music instructor. The cup is signed around tondo with DOURIS EGRAPHSEN ("Douris painted it"). Tondo border consists of single false meander squares alternating with crossed squares.

Side A: Two pairs of seated youth and standing man, with a third standing man at right. Lyres hang in field with string bags for knucklebones, and aryballoi and sponges used by athletes. The central man offers a hare to the youth. Side B: same as Side A except one youth has hare on his lap. Palmettes by handles.

Inscriptions:

DOURIS EGRAPHSEN in tondo ("Douris painted it"). Side A: hIPODAMA KALOS ("Hippodama[s] is beautiful"). Side B: hIPODAMAS KALOS ("Hippodamas is beautiful").

Samian form of D indicates the vase is from the latter part of Douris' career. Also hIPODAMAS KALOS is associated with the third of four periods of Douris' career.
