Comments on Thatles of Miletus.

Chris Weinkopf says it is good:
You give a nice summary of Thales, and have well placed, informative links. Your style is clear too. I would suggest diagrams for his geometrical proofs, but otherwise, a job well donee.

John Dibiaggio says it is excellent:
Where should I begin? This is a most extraordinary work for an undergraduate. Why she is not a Fulbright Scholar, I do not know. I am so overwhelmed that I cannot continue.

Sol Gittleman says it needs work:
I don't know what the hell Johnny D. is thinking, but I thought that this paper needed a lot of work, especially for a potential Fullbright scholar. I expected a lot more from a bright student like Kathleen. I am very disappointed.

Tom Fowler says it is excellent:
I think this is a great project. You have just the right number of links and the diagrams are fantastic (although Ellen must get some of the credit for this). You made good use of the tools available on the web by finding additional information on Thales not mentioned by KRS. Overall, very nice job.

Ben Zarit says it is good:
I agree with the suggestions the Chris has made. Also, it may help if you went into more detail on how Thales's proof about corresponding angles being used to measure distance. Another thing you might want to consider doing is talking about the specific references you make, such as the well and the eclipse, as well as including links to them.

Jesse Weissman says it is good:
This paper is very good. The explanation is clear and well written. I found the links to be very helpful and informative. The diagram was a nice touch--it always helps to see a diagram when math is involved. My only criticism is that the structure is somewhat broken--the essay seems to jump from point to point on occasion. Every paragraph is neatly packaged, but the essay's flow suffers as a consequence. Don't get me wrong, though. I like this paper a lot.

Chad Colarusso says it is good:
This paper presents Thales' accomplishments and contributions in a clear and effective manner. Well-organized, the paper flows nicely and incorporates links and the diagram well. The diagram is excellent(kudos to Ellen as well). I think this paper is a very good first effort whose principle strength is its conciseness.

Jordana Wiener says it is good:
I like this paper because it is clear, well structured, and concise. The links are very helpful, and the diagram somehow alludes to Ellen. (It's beuatiful) I like that you not only state what Thales thought, but also explain why what he did was important to science -- this links your paper well to the goals of the class. Great job!

Robin says it is good:
I think this is good and solid, and have no complaints. It would have been nice perhaps to link through to Pausanias and the first mention you make of Plutarch.

Marc Wohnsigl says it is excellent:
I liked it. The diagrams were really good and the links were enough to give a better idea of what you were talking about. There really isn't any criticism I can give that would have made it better.

Ellen Brundige says it is good:
This is a good clean short paper that gives us a nice overview of Thales. Naturally, it draws almost entirely on KRS, but Kathleen has organized the evidence and material in her own way, drawing on KRS' exhaustive collection of textual references where and when it was appropriate. She uses links to back up assertions in footnote fashion, neither too much nor too little. She might add a link to Plut. Sol. 3.4; it's already in Perseus.

L Harms says it is good:
linked review.

Andrea Marcogliese says it is good:
Thales was a pretty cool guy. And so is this paper (cool, but not a guy). It is a clear and easy read for late night in the Mac lab. Nice summary of Thales. Cool diagrams!!

Kristen says it is good:
Great comprehensive overview of Thales--you use appropriate links to backup arguments and comments. I like the diagrams- they are very clear and understandable. You might want to talk a bit about the implications of the theorems--you show the impact of the fourth one, but maybe give a little more history on the others. Also, maybe link to Anaximander or Anaximenes when you discuss them later. Overall, this is very well-written and interesting. Great job.

Jeff Kostiuk says it is excellent:
I enjoyed this paper because it was short, precise and to the point. You make your points about Thales and the illuminate the screen with a beautiful diagram. Then your links a very helpful, as well as your list of sources at the end. Overall this is a fine piece.

Jin Chung says it is good:
The piece was well-presented and structured. On-line, the paper is really easy to read, as it looks on the screen. I liked your diagrams and pictures a lot. You do a good job utilizing the assets of the web. It was a great summary of Thales with helpful pictures, if there was any room for analysis, the paper would have been excellent. Good job.

Michael Tirabassi says it is excellent:
Great job Kathleen. Your project was well written and the picture was excellent. I liked it alot. It fit the assighnment well.
